Healthy Snacks Your Kids Will Love

Share

It is common for growing children to get hungry between meals.

Unfortunately, many packaged snacks that fill the majority of kids' lunch boxes are often packed with added sugars and artificial ingredients.

However, there are many snacks that will keep your children full and energised until their next meal.

Here are 8 snacks that are both healthy and delicious!

popcorn

Popcorn

Popcorn is often thought of as junk food, but when it's not dowsed in unhealthy toppings or excessive amounts of butter, it's an extremely nutritious whole grain.

Opt for the low-butter, all-natural popcorn variants. However, be careful giving popcorn to younger children as it can be a choking hazard.

Veggies Sticks with Hummus

The majority of kids love dip! Hummus is a great option as it's filled with fibre, folate and lots of antioxidants.

Carrot or celery sticks go great with hummus, and this snack also ensures that your kids are getting a good dose of veggies!

Healthy Greek yogurt bowl with berry

Yoghurt

Yoghurt is a great snack option for kids because it's high protein and calcium counts.

Protein is important for growing kids, whilst calcium will develop their bones,

However, most yoghurts are high in sugar due to the extra sweeteners they add to them. Be sure to choose a plain, full-fat greek yoghurt that you can sweeten with fruit like berries!

Avocado

Turkey and Avocado Roll-Up

Much healthier than an Uncle Toby's Roll-Up, turkey and avocado roll-ups are easy to make and easy for your kids to eat!

Turkey is a great source of protein and avocados are full of healthy fats and fibre, making this snack a nutrient jammed treat.

To make a turkey and avocado roll-up, first, peel and slice an avocado. Gently toss the slices in lime juice to prevent browning. Then wrap one piece of turkey around each avocado slice!

nuts

Nuts

As long as your child is not allergic to nuts, they are a brilliant healthy snack for kids to eat on the go.

Nuts are high in healthy fats, fibre and antioxidants and a great source of energy.

Like popcorn, nuts can be a choking hazard, so make sure your child is able to handle the texture before they eat nuts as a snack.
